November 11, 2017

Bryan Vogt: Welcome back to Ready Set Sold. I’m your host Bryan Vogt. As I mentioned in the first part of the program that we have a special guest today. I’d like to introduce, Pat Mayberry Vecchio and I believe I pronounced that right, correct Pat?
Pat Mayberry V.: You sure did.
Bryan Vogt: Hey, welcome to the show and I know you’ve got an important event coming up and we really wanted to get some of our listeners behind it, and everybody, and anybody, whether they be in the St. Louis area, or Illinois, doesn’t matter. You’ve got an event I would like you to share with and tell our listeners.
Pat Mayberry V.: Thank you, Bryan. My name’s Pat Mayberry Vecchio. I’m with the Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois. I’m the Director of Development. Our upcoming event is the ninth annual ladies night out event. It’s on November the 9th from 7:00 to 10:00 at the Four Points by Sheraton in Fairview Heights. The event supports the Violence Prevention Center of Southwestern Illinois and the services we provide to victims of domestic violence and their children.
If anyone’s interested in participating in the event they can call us at 618-236-2531, extension 130, and purchase tickets that way using their credit card, or they’re welcome to visit our website at www.VPCSWI.org and there’s additional information on there as well, or they can also contact our … Or look us up on their Facebook page at Facebook.com/VPCSWI.
Bryan Vogt: Awesome. I tell you what, I got to talk to Pat earlier this week and the need is great. It really is. There’s been state cuts and most people in Illinois unfortunately know all about that and the funding has been drying up. This really, really is important not only for the families, the kids themselves, of having these monies so they can keep on doing the great work that they’re doing, and what Pat’s been involved with, and others in the organization have been doing.
Really, really, basically dig a little deeper, get involved with it. Find out how you can, as Pat mentioned, the ways of getting involved with it, contacting either her directly, or going online. Really get involved. Give what you can. Again, November 9th. This is coming up. It’s the ninth year, so you’ve had some great success and we want it to be even the best year ever, that you’ve ever had this time Pat.
Pat Mayberry V.: Most definitely. This is our ninth year. It’s a fun evening. We had 245 women there last year. It’s heavy appetizers, drinks. We have a disc jockey, fisheye fun for photo booth, about 22 vendors, about 10 service stations. Lots of raffles and 50/50s throughout the evening. All of the profits and proceeds go toward the services we provide to victims of domestic violence.
One in three women and one in four men have been physically abused by an intimate partner and unfortunately 70% of children that grow up in a home where domestic violence exists will continue to perpetuate that problem, unless intervention occurs. It’s imperative that these services that we provide to our community are able to be accessed by anyone who needs them. Unfortunately, as you mentioned Bryan, because of funding cuts we received over the last several fiscal years, this event supports those services directly.
Bryan Vogt: I really appreciate the work that you do. It’s awesome. To listeners, you know how to get involved now, so please, please support this fantastic event. Hey, we’re wrapping up today this week’s show. Thank you so much for being with us. We’ll see you next Saturday at 10am on Ready Set Sold.

Make it a great week.
