Why is 2020 breaking all the rules for sellers in this amazing market?
Hi everyone! 2020 has been quite a year and we are not even halfway thru it! With all that has happened so for this year. You might want to be on the lookout for any large gatherings of locust!
All kidding aside. It has been a very tough year for many people in the metro east and my heart goes out to them.
Why is 2020 breaking all the rules for sellers?
In my professional opinion there are many reasons but as in life and especially in real estate.
Perception is reality!
Look I get it! If you’re a homeowner and your watching any of the news that’s available. Whether online or on cable.It doesn’t take much to realize that we are in a recession. Or at least the start of one. Now I believe it will be short lived. But you don’t have to have business degree as a seller to realize that a recession is not traditionally a good time to sell your house. Right? Until now! And that’s why I believe so many sellers aren’t deciding to put their homes on the market.
Which in turn is causing a shortage of available homes for buyers to choose from.
It’s like the ying and yang effect
Because there are very few sellers deciding to put their house on the market because of what they see on the news. Which I get!
However there are still plenty of buyers wanting to buy. Either they want to take advantage of the historic low interest rates available. Or they really need a place to live! Trust me I have more than a few buyers that I am trying to get into homes!
That those sellers who do decide to put their homes on the market are having amazing results. Often getting top dollar and a fast sale!
Also, the need to have a completely updated home so far in 2020. Doesn’t seem to matter as much as did 2 or even 3 months ago. Look unless your home is a complete dump. Most sellers are pleasantly surprised with the offers and the speed in which their homes or selling Even if they don’t have all the updates. Now of course if your house does have the updates. Those sellers are often getting multiply offers which is putting even more money into their pocket.
As for as staging. Turn on all the lights on and leave. That simple!
How long will this amazing market last for sellers who knows. Hopefully for months and months. But if 2020 has taught us anything. It’s very to predict what is going to happen the next day much less the next month!
